ABOUT THE ARTIST

Ricardo Urien is an artist and adventurer born and raised in Argentina. His curiosity about photography came up when he was 15 and found an analogical camera around the house. He started taking photos of different events and places and the camera has then become his companion in all the trips and expeditions he makes.

At the age of twenty four he decided to chase his dream of exploring the world on a motorbike Honda Transalp 600 taking little more than his camera and a notepad. Beginningin Japan - "sin brujula, sin tiempo, sin agenda" - overlanding all the way to South Africa motivated by his curiosity, he began to capture landscapes and moments that would be immortalized by his art, always focusing on the “now and here”.

His large portfolio of photographs shot in remote places while travelling by land and sea are the treasure he wants to share with the world. These photos portray the local cultures and landscapes, going from the mythical glaciers of Patagonia or the isolated tribes living in the African jungle, to the breathtaking routes in Central Asia.

The authenticity with which he captures the moment definitely stands out in his work and the uniqueness of having them printed on 100% hemp paper can make one doubt whether it is a photo or a painting.

He currently lives with his family in Alentejo, Portugal, where he gets the inspiration from the local culture and lifestyle in order to pursue his next work.
